Refugio State Beach

Refugio State Beach is a protected state beach park in California, United States, approximately 20 miles west of Santa Barbara. One of three state parks along the Gaviota Coast, it is 2.5 miles west of El Capitán State Beach. During the summer months, the Junior Life Guard program resides at the beach during the day.

Sunrise Shot

This is a good angle with the palm trees. Blue hour before sunrise. Get the stars in there.

  • Low ISO
  • Maybe moonrise
  • large tripod in the water?

If your going to get those palm trees, get them fully. Dont cop the tops. Back up in you have too. More water effect or reflection.

Sunset Shot

Nice spot with good reflections.

Can you get to the other side of the estuary and get a bottom reflection going there?

  • Low ISO
  • Maybe moonset
  • large tripod in the water?

Feature Shot

Someone, something featured on that sandbar. Maybe walkietalkies, or earbuds for communication. Could be a moon rise or set, colorful could cover on a still day would reflect in these waters.

  • Photopills for sun/moon placement - maybe even a sun centerd over the sand bar.
  • Zoom lens - but maybe take the wide, see if its more reflection. You will likely loose the feature tho.
